Off-Campus Access
Anyone with an active Western ID can access our databases and journals from off-campus.
To access resources from off-campus, search for the database, journal, or article you want from the search box on the Western Libraries homepage or the Library Catalogue. Once you've found it, click the link to access it online. At that point you will be redirected to a login page where you can enter your Western ID.
If you’re having trouble connecting, try clearing your cache or use another browser.
Additional tips:
- Use the most current version of your browser
- Enable cookies on your browser
- Ensure you have the most current security updates for your device
If you still can’t connect, email library@uwo.ca.
If the resource link doesn’t have 'proxy' in the URL, please log in to your account.
If 'proxy' is included in the URL, notify staff. Our staff will investigate and respond in one business day. While you wait for a response, you can return to the catalogue to see if we offer another version of the resource.
Alumni Access
Alumni do have off-campus access to some of Western Libraries online resources.
You may access these e-resources only from this page. Trying to access them from other places like the catalogue or Google will fail because your account will not be recognized.
Due to licensing agreements Western Libraries cannot provide alumni with off-campus access to most electronic databases and resources available to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff.
Use your Western (@uwo.ca) email account. It will become your alumni account. You do not need a separate Email for Life account.
